Sports Director Geraud Moncure’, brings a wealth of experience from both the athletic forum and television anchor desk to the sports team at KHSL and KNVN. A Chico State graduate and former two-year starting point guard for the Wildcats basketball team, Geraud interned at Channel 12 to start his broadcasting career after his playing days finished. Once on the television sports path, he stopped in Yuma, Arizona as the weekend sports-anchor/weekday sports reporter for KYMA-TV.
The next stop was Memphis in the same capacity at WMC-TV, where covering SEC Football and Memphis State hoops was a blast! From there it was back to California for a Sports Director job in Fresno at KJEO-TV. In Fresno, he witnessed Fresno State’s historical “Freedom Bowl” win over USC in 1992.
Three years later, the journey took him to Dallas, anchoring weekend sports for two-year stints at both KTVT and KDFW. While in “Big D”, Geraud traveled with the Dallas Cowboys and covered their Super Bowl 30 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also handled locker room duties after the Dallas Stars won their only Stanley Cup over the Buffalo Sabres.
With a burning desire to accomplish his dream and covering sports in his hometown of Los Angeles, Geraud left Dallas without a job and soon captured a freelancing role at KNBC-TV, which led him to a full-time opportunity at KCOP Television to anchor the weekend sports and report during the week. This was the time of the Los Angeles Lakers dominance of the NBA and their "Three-peat" years. Purely, a joy to be a part of!A merger two-years later, with KCOP and KTTV sent Geraud to Philadelphia and WB-17.
Once that shop closed its news doors, it was time to take a brake and regroup from the world of TV sports. After three years out of the business, doing other things, the fire starting burning again, which led Geraud back to the friendly confines of KHSL, handling the Monday thru Friday Sports duties!
Geraud is having a great time back in the North State giving viewers a fulldose of local sports with a big-city edge from behind the anchor deskand in the field!
