Ross Field has a tremendous passion for sports and he's been like that his whole life.  As a matter of fact, the very first word uttered out of his young mouth happened to be "ball." As a youngster, whether it was a football, a basketball, a baseball, a soccer ball or even a wiffle ball, if you were looking for Ross you’d find outside playing “ball” with other kids in the neighborhood.  When it was too dark to play outside, he’d be playing sport video games or watching his favorite show, Sportscenter. When people asked him what he wanted to do when he grew up, he always said he wanted to be a sports broadcaster.

Growing up in Sebastopol, California, and attending Analy High School, Ross enjoyed success as a basketball and baseball player. As a junior, he played second base for a Northern Section championship team whose success garnered them a second place ranking in the state! As a senior, he earned All Sonoma County league honors as a point guard on a team that ascended all the way to the Northern Section semi-finals.

After graduating high school, Ross came up to Chico to pursue an education at Chico State. During college, his favorite classes included Studio Video Production and Field video production where he was given a hands-on opportunity to enhance his knowledge of the television industry.  In 2006 he graduated with a B.A. in Communication Design with an emphasis in Media Arts.

Ross joined the Action News team as a production assistant in August 2006.  During his breaks and days off, he would constantly bug the sports department to teach him about what they do and to let him go shoot various sports around town. Sure enough, when a job opened up in the department he quickly jumped on board and has been riding the wave ever since.

Ross brings a relentless enthusiasm for sports coverage to his job. So far, his most memorable moments consist of reporting on local high school, college and professional teams and athletes, attending 49ers and Raiders training camps, and providing in-depth coverage of Chico native and Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and his climb to stardom in the NFL.

Ross enjoys living in the northern part of the state and some of his hobbies include, hanging out with family and friends, traveling, barbecuing and of course, watching, playing and reporting sports.
