Nineteen year old Veronica Perotti was found beaten to death in her Chico apartment, June 28, 1984. Her mother, Jan Miller, always thinks of what life would have been like if her daughter was still alive. "What would her children be like? How many more grandchildren would I have? It's just very emotional even to realize that," said Miller. Perotti's killer is still at large. That is why Governor Schwarzenegger's office is offering a $50,000 reward to anyone with information on the homicide. Detectives once thought her killer was a dish washer that worked with her at the Italian Cottage on the Esplanade, but that trail went cold. They did find male DNA at the scene, but have not been able to find a match.

Butte County Sheriff Perry Reniff told Action News, "This was a very innocent victim who was very brutally murdered, I mean brutally murdered. Probably one of the worst blunt force trauma cases I've seen in 37 years."

Reniff was a detective during the time it happened. This is the only homicide he was assigned to that has not been solved. "Somebody has to know something somewhere and hopefully after this many years, they will have gotten the conscience and will perhaps come forward with the information," said Reniff.

If you have any information on Veronica Perotti's murder, you are encouraged to contact the California Department of Justice, your local police department, or sheriff's office.
