The man accused of strangling a Red Bluff teen to death may finally have an attorney.

39-year-old Quentin Bealer was in court for the third time in two days this morning. At his side today was attorney Shon Northam.

He has experience practicing child custody law in Tehama County and has worked as a defense attorney. But he also used to work for district attorney Gregg Cohen, the man prosecuting the murder charge against Bealer.

“I don't have a personal conflict with the fact that I know law enforcement. That I have a relationship with law enforcement, or that Gregg Cohen used to be my former boss, but it is something that I wanted to just put on the record obviously so it is out there so down the road, somebody does not come in and say you never disclosed this or you never disclosed that,” said Northam.

This evening, Action News confirmed with Northam that he has decided to take on the case.

Meanwhile, Bealer did not enter a plea today. He's expected to do that next Tuesday.
