A car crash on Table Mountain Boulevard Thursday afternoon sparked a 15-acre grass fire north of Oroville.
The fire was reported around 2:30 p.m. Winds pushed flames north toward some ranch homes but several engine companies were able to halt the fire before flames could do any damage to homes and other outbuildings in the area.
Investigators say it appear a car traveling along Table Mountain Boulevard lost control and took out several feet of wire fencing and that like caused sparks that ignited the fire.
Fire officials left crews at the scene for several hours after the fire was contained to make sure there were no flare-ups.
