On a typical day, about 800 orders are shipped from LuLus.com’s warehouse in Chico, but during its Cyber Monday sale company leaders are hoping to nearly triple that number.
"We are breaking records every year,” senior buyer Brittany Nicholls said.
By noon Monday, the 82 employees at LuLus.com were hard at work filling the one thousand orders that had already come in since the company's Cyber Monday promotion began at midnight.
"Last year, Cyber Monday was our biggest day of the year. This year we are expecting to beat that," Nicholls said.
Everybody will be busy up until closing as company leaders are hoping to break their single day record of 2,100 orders that they set just three days ago on Black Friday.
Employees say as of midday they were slightly ahead of that pace, but those handling the orders weren't showing any signs of stress.
"The warehouse is pretty busy. You know the little bees are packing orders away rapidly, but for the most part it’s exciting," Nicholls said.
A large reason for that excitement is the continued growth of the Chico-based online clothing retailer.
In addition to expanding their Humboldt Avenue warehouse, and drawing in new American customers, the company has also begun shipping internationally.
“We are adding on countries every day, getting bigger and bigger," Nicholls said.
That expansion means that the company can't just concentrate on shipping items out on Cyber Monday.
So even as the customer service reps were taking orders the buyers were looking through catalogs for the latest trends and restocking the warehouse.
"Try to keep them coming in as fast as they are going out," Nicholls said.
Too keep up with the extra demand; employees said the postman was scheduled to make three stops at the warehouse Monday to help give them a little space to move.
