The body of a Bay Area woman has been recovered from the waters of Clear Creek in Shasta County.
Shelbi Danielle Arno, 39, disappeared Sunday when her boat capsized downstream from Whiskeytown Lake.
A friend tried to save her, but she was unconscious and slipped away in the current.
The victim had reportedly paddled that stretch of water it at least 6 times before.
Late Sunday search and rescue crews believed they spotted the woman under water, but had to wait until Monday morning to make the recovery.
Captain Dave Dean with the Shasta County Sheriff's Office said, "We came in this morning with about two and a half dozen people and worked our way down to the water in an attempt to dislodge the target and see if it was her and it actually was. So we were able to dislodge her and recover her this morning."
A CHP helicopter lowered a basket to dive crews that were inside the clear creek canyon to bring the body out.
The victim's identity has not been released.###
