An early morning structure ripped through an already damaged building at the Good News Rescue Mission.

At about 3:30 Christmas morning, fire-fighters were called out to the Mission's Administration Building and Distribution Center.

Flames were found on both the outside and the inside of the building, causing the department to call for a second alarm. Despite this, damage to the building appears to be relatively low.

“I'd guess there is $20,000 damage to the building. When they first arrived, they were not able to see the flames from the street. They did see smoke coming from the back of the building. It took them a minute to access the back alley where they discovered the fire,” said Battalion Chief Rob Pitt of the Redding Fire Department.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Earlier this month, the same building was damaged when flood waters poured in through a back door.
