Five Chico Gang Members Arrested In Connection with Midway Shooting

The Butte County Sheriff's Gang Unit Wednesday announced the arrest of five gang members from Chico suspected in the Oct. 25 shooting incident on the Midway south of Chico.

Jose Serrato Avila, 19 and Nicholas John Lewis, 18 were arrested along with three juveniles ages 14, 16, and 17. All were charged with two counts of attempted murder, shooting at an occupied motor vehicle, criminal conspiracy and the street gang enhancement. All individuals are from Chico.

The juveniles are being held without bail at Butte County Juvenile Hall. The adults, Avila and Lewis were booked into Butte County Jail, Oroville with a bail amount of $2,560,000.
