A former Chico city councilman is arrested for DUI after a hit and run accident. Tom Nickell was arrested at his home Thursday night just before midnight.
CHP officials say another driver reported a hit and run on the East Avenue off ramp of Highway 99 around 9:30.
The driver followed Nickell to his home.
Officers determined Nickell was involved in the accident and was under the influence of alcohol.
Nickell served on the Chico city council from 2006 to 2010.
He is a retired CHP officer.
