The fire was first reported at 8:00pm Saturday. When crews arrived, several items of a room were ablaze. Chico firefighters knocked the flames down quickly. An investigator was called to the scene because the fire was "suspicious" in nature. The hotel is not being used, and there is no electricity in the building. The flames were confined to one room. The same motel was the scene of a similar fire last December. That one was considered "suspicious" as well, because the building was not in use at the time, and had no electricity or power.
