With 16-thousand students enrolled, Chico State's wireless network managers have their hands full because at any point there are three to four thousand devices connected to the network.
To make sure the students have a connection at their fingertips, crews have installed 750 wireless access points around campus.
Those can be monitored from the wireless controller to show administrators where people are connecting the most and how much data is being used.
"Any given day we can see 15,000 unique devices having attached to the network worth 4-5 terabytes of data," Scott Claverie, Chico State’s Director of Computing & Communication Services said.
Network managers say the residents have the highest data use, and they are always working to add more access points where needed.
