An elderly Redding couple is safe and sound tonight after after ending up hundreds of miles away from their destination. The unidentified 85-year old man and his 83-year old wife, were reported missing and possibly endangered yesterday evening.A daughter told police her step-father picked up his wife from a local care facility for a short drive to her home for a 6:30 p.m. Christmas Eve dinner and didn't arrive.
They were located in their vehicle on interstate 5.. near Woodburn, Oregon, 400 miles away from their daughter's house.
State Police say the couple was found in their Ford Taurus, confused, out of gas and needing medical care. The couple was transported by ambulance to Salem Hospital for a medical evaluation. Family members were making arrangements to drive to Oregon to pick them up and return home.
