People have been at the Mount Shasta Mall since midnight Friday and the crowds were steady all day.
It's a post Thanksgiving tradition, that some will never miss.
Retailers count on Black Friday to make a profit
“This is the make or break it for many retailers and we had a lot of shoppers last night a lot of people lined up at midnight or even before,” said Beth Wood of the Mt. Shasta Mall.
But the low prices are why people show up in record numbers
Each year we are seeing an increase in people coming for Black Friday and Black Friday has taken on a life of its own in the last few years,” said Wood.
Most major retailers have extended hours for the holiday season.
The mall is open until 10pm Friday, but as the clock clicks closer to Christmas, it opens earlier and closes later.
