The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office, Office of Emergency Services is currently receiving weather updates from the National Weather Service warning of severe weather that is scheduled to hit the North State beginning Wednesday.
Heavy rain and strong winds are expected which could cause streams and rivers to swell, create localized flooding, downing of trees, possible power outages and potential mudslides. Our office is asking everyone to take the necessary safety precautions and be safe while traveling in the area.
Shasta County has issued sand and sandbags to the following fire departments to be used in the event of an actual flood emergency available on Wednesday 11/28/12 after 1200 hours. Sand and bags will be given to those citizens who are actually experiencing flooding or have an immediate need.

Those wishing to prepare for possible flooding issues are asked to purchase sand and bags from local retail vendors. Home improvement stores, hardware stores, feed stores and landscaping stores sell these types of products and usually have them readily available.
