Former Chico City Councilman Tom Nickell pleaded guilty Thursday to a misdemeanor count of driving under the influence.
The retired CHP Officer's attorney told Action News at Nickell's arraignment that he was "Prepared to take full responsibility for his actions."
Nickell's blood alcohol limit was three times the legal limit when was arrested at his home June 29th, after a witness saw him hit a concrete barrier on an off ramp, and followed him home.
The former Vice-Mayor was sentenced to three years probation, a 17 hundred dollar fine and he must complete a DUI course.
He was also sentenced to 96 hours in jail.
However, 48 hours will be "stayed" if he completes another DUI program, and is subject to search and test conditions.###
