There is encouraging news to report about the Shasta College football player, fighting for his life after an assault in Chico.
21-year-old Tyler Burton was transferred from Enloe Medical Center Thursday to an acute care center in Redding ... where he will undergo intensive speech and physical therapy.
Burton was injured Halloween weekend when he was punched during an altercation and hit his head when he fell to the ground.
Burton came through a medically-induced coma, two surgeries and a stroke.
Family posts on Facebook and the "Caring Bridges" website say he's now doing things like snapping his fingers and communicating through gestures.
The man accused of punching Burton is awaiting trial for Felony Battery.
