The hot, dry temperatures mean increased fire danger... so much so that the city of Chico is closing upper Bidwell Park at the Diversion Dam gate to vehicle traffic.
The city closes the gravel portions of upper park road when there's serious fire danger, to keep cars and trucks from sparking a blaze in the area.
The closure will remain in effect until Wednesday.
