Some are predicting that turnout for Tuesday’s election could hit around 80 percent in the North State.
That's because more than half the local voters plan to do so from the comfort of their own home, which is perfectly fine with local election officials.
"More and more each election are choosing to vote by mail, which is good. It gives you more time to read up on the issues," Butte County Registrar of Voters Candace Grubbs said.
With 43 percent of vote by mail ballots already returned, workers at the Butte County Election Office have been busy sorting the ballots and counting the votes.
"The major problem we have is that people forget to sign their envelope or change their signature," Grubbs said.
Absentee voters account for more than half of the registered voters in the Butte, Shasta and Tehama counties, so election officials are waiting for an influx of ballots in the coming days.
"We have to receive it in the elections office by eight p.m. on election night or at any polling place," Grubbs said.
If you haven't already dropped your ballot in the mail, you may want to the skip the post office and drop it off on Election Day to make sure it gets counted.
If you are voting in person, you need to make sure you go to the right polling place because there are nearly 40 different ballots in many counties.
"If you are not at the right polling place, you are not getting the right issues to vote on," Grubbs said.
All three counties have poll locators on their websites along with tools to help you check on the status of your vote by mail ballot.
If there is an issue you don't feel comfortable voting on it is perfectly acceptable to leave it blank.
The Butte County Election Office is open for early voting during regular business hours and will also be open Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
