The Chico State men's golf team just wrapped up the Fall portion of their season last week with back to back tournament victories in the Interwest Wildcat Classic and the Sonoma State Invitational.

Action Sports Ross Field caught with the squad, and has more on what's "driving" this team to success.

The Chico State men's golf team is good. During the fall portion of their season, the Wildcats competed in four tournaments. With two first place finishes and two third place finishes, they now find themselves with the number three ranking for Division Two in the entire country.

Head Coach T.L. Brown praises the depth of his squad for their success.

Brown says, "so many guys are hungry to get in the mix and represent Chico State, I think that's one of our strongest points we just have a lot of depth from top to bottom."

This Fall the Cats were so dominant that they went 7-0 against other opponents in the top 25 and as a team, they boasted a scoring average of just under par.

Sophomore Kyle Souza and Senior Sylvester Gama think the competitiveness and team chemistry has helped raise the Wildcats overall play.

Souza says, "on the course, off the course, in the gym, in the classroom, we all like to compete and we like to beat each other and we push each other to get better."

Gama adds, "we all want to compete, we all want to be the best and we have good chemistry on this team which is part of our success I think and we're just going to keep working harder."

The Wildcats won't play another tournament until the spring when the second part of their season tees off. For now the focus turns to staying polished on the course and preparing for this....

Brown says, "all we're focused on is just winning tournaments and going as far as we can in the post-season and hopefully next in May in Indianapolis battling for the 2010 National Golf Championship."
