Chico's own and soon to be Pleasant Valley high junior Tyler Collier won the 16-year-old division. In fact, Collier's three round score of 213 at Pacific Palms Resort topped every competitor from ages 14 to 18. Now for those who don't know, Veritas is a major international multi-division junior golf competition, offering worldwide golfers the opportunity to participate as long as they can qualify, so for Collier, this is a big win. He took home a medal and that's not all....

"For winning I got an exemption next year and they said I could bring a kid with me from Chico too, so that's pretty cool. I played pretty good for all the kids that were there, I didn't expect to do as well as I did but it worked out," said Collier.

You can add Alex Fowler's name to list of success stories at Veritas. He placed ninth in the boys eight-year-old division. Fowler has been swinging the clubs since he was just two year old, and he says golf is his number one passion. As far as his performance this past week, the phenom was proud to finish so high against other top youngsters from around the globe.

"I came in the top ten against people from Portugal, Guam, United Kingdom, a great experience and it was really fun," said Fowler.

"He's just a little kid, he's kinda short for his age, but he can hit the ball and whenever I bring him to a driving range anywhere he gets everybody's attention," said Alex's grandpa Steve Tatum.
