Power boats will soon be racing across the Thermalito Afterbay in Oroville.
The American Power Boat Association is holding time trials Saturday and Sunday over a quarter-mile course, and a one kilometer course.
The event will bring in power boat racers and fans from throughout California and from other states.
Organizers say they expect to see some speed records broken this year.
The event is free to all spectators, and it's a boon to the Oroville economy.
