Action News Explores Hidden Dangers Lurking in Chico After Dark

In light of more than 100 assaults near the Chico State campus in the last six months, university officials are taking steps to make the area a safer place, especially at night.

Just last month alone a string of three separate attacks in the span of several hours had students fearing for their safety.

While the Associated Students pushed to have lights installed in the Fifth and Ivy area, other students are now working to get even more lighting put in.

Just last week, campus officials and students joined together for the Fifth Annual Moonlight Walk to see what public safety improvements could be made at the university.

Students are particularly concerned with safety alone the bike path, the West Campus area, and along the Avenues.
