One man is in custody for shooting another man outside a home on Floral Avenue Saturday night in Chico.
Police say 36-year-old Joby Dawson of Cohasset shot 22-year-old Alan Bigham of Los Molinos in the head and stomach around 9 p.m.
The people who live at the home where the shooting took place say one of the residents and a relative in Cohasset planned to meet for a fight over disrespectful behavior at the home on Floral Avenue. They said after the fight started, Dawson, a relative of one of the residents, pulled out a gun and fired.
Police say Bigham was not the intended target.
A few minutes after the shooting, police pulled over a car carrying Dawson and three others on Eaton and Cohasset Roads.
Dawson was arrested on attempted murder charges after police found a handgun in the car.
The shooting victim, Alan Bigham, is listed in stable condition at Enloe Medical Center.
