Layoffs at the Shasta County Sheriff's Department won't mean fewer patrols on the rivers and lakes this 4th of July weekend.

The Shasta County Sheriff's office has cut 47 positions because of the budget.  But Sergeant Tom Campbell says this won't impact their holiday presence.  They will be out in full force to not only enforce but also educate.

"A big part of what we do out here is education," says Campbell. "We are tasked with enforcement but we do also educate the boating public."  Deputies will also be on the lookout for anyone in possession of illegal fireworks and will be handing out citations.
