Your health insurance policy may have a preexisting condition clause. This means that you may not be covered if you need healthcare for a medical condition that existed before you purchased your insurance policy. The policy generally only refers to those in poor health when they purchase their policies. Ask your insurance agent if your insurance plan has a preexisting condition policy. It should be written into your plan. You may be able to have the pre-existing policy waived or your insurance company might have a short waiting period. Consult an insurance agent in your area for more information about preexisting condition policies.
