Chico Police arrest a bank robbery suspect following a pursuit through backyards and neighborhoods. Renaldo Perez was arrested just after 1 p.m. Wednesday hiding in the basement of a home on Laburnum Avenue near East Fifth Avenue.
According to Chico Police, Perez was spotted by a Umpqua Bank employee this morning looking suspicious. The employee told police she recognized him as the same man who had robbed the bank weeks earlier.
Officers began pursuing Perez, and he took off on foot. They caught up with him less than two blocks away. Police say they found a black mask, similar to the one used in the previous robbery. They are still investigating.
