A Chico businessman entered a guilty plea in court Thursday and could face up to six years behind bars for his crime.  Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey told Action News that Jeremy Hoptowit pleaded guilty to first degree burglary with intent to commit a sexual assault.

In March, 2008, a 21-year-old woman visiting her friend in Chico called police after she says Hoptowit broke into the house and sexually assaulted her.  A previous judge tossed out the case but it was re-filed.

With Thursday's guilty plea Hoptowit must register as a sex offender.  He is scheduled to be sentenced February 1st.
