Modoc County is almost out of money, and Thursday declared a state of emergency. A resolution signed the by Assistant Director of Emergency Services, Gary Parker, states "as of this date, county obligations to creditors are not being met in a timely manner. The county will not have the means to meet its payroll or other obligations by March of 2010."
The declaration says conditions have developed of extreme peril for the safety of people in the county. The Modoc County supervisors will hold an emergency meeting Friday at 9am at the Modoc County Sheriff's Annex conference room.
