The family and friends of a Durham man killed by a hit and run driver on the Midway are reaching out to the community.
They want people to know that 61 year-old Rick Magee is not "Just a crime statistic."
Magee was a contractor who loved nature and would do anything for loved ones.
He was riding his bicycle up the overpass by Roble Road Wednesday afternoon when he was struck by a passing vehicle.
Steve Centanni was friends with Magee for 40 years, "Could you imagine leaving someone lying injured by the side of the road possibly dying and just driving away? It's hard to believe. I hope the person takes responsibility for the sake of a very good, loving person who was loved by many and is missed by many."
Authorities are looking for a 2003 to 2007 silver Chevy Silverado... possibly with front end damage ... in connection with the crime.
