Kira Klapper joined the Action News Team in June 2010 after working as a morning reporter as well as a substitute anchor and weather forecaster for KCOY CBS 12 and KKFX FOX 11. While at the CBS and FOX affiliates serving California's Central Coast, Kira also reported a weekly series titled "Down to Earth" in which she highlighted local people and businesses that were making a positive environmental impact in the community.
Kira began her on-air career shooting, writing, and editing her work as a general assignment reporter as well as part-time anchor and producer at KEYC-TV, the CBS affiliate in Mankato, Minnesota.
Prior to working on-camera, Kira spent time in college working behind the scenes as an Intern for NBC's "Today" Show and "Dateline" and as a News Editorial Assistant for WBUR, Boston's National Public Radio Station.
Kira further honed her skills in the newsroom as a production assistant at ABC7 News / KGO-TV in San Francisco.
The Los Angeles native was a competitive figure skater for ten years during her childhood and spent her senior year of high school anchoring the nationally-syndicated Saturday morning sports show "Kids Talk Sports."
Kira earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism with a concentration in Spanish from Boston University.
