If you're wondering about smoke in the skies above Lassen Volcanic National Park...
It's called the "reading Fire."
Park officials say it started as several small fires during a lightning storm July 23rd.
It is now a "managed fire" burning at 71 hundred feet in elevation, northeast of Paradise Meadows...but apparently the fire grew quickly Monday and extra resources were called in to help contain it.
Park officials say the goal is to monitor the spread, but to allow the fire to consume surface fuels ... which can benefit the forest ecosystem.
They say it poses no threat to public safety, but may require temporary road and trail closures as it continues to burn.###
