Shasta County Sheriff Deputies say alcohol appears to be a factor in the drowning death of a Shasta Lake houseboater on Friday.
A Sheriff's spokesman says their office was noticed late Friday night of a possible drowning on the McCloud arm of Shasta Lake.
Witnesses told investigators that the victim was on the roof of a houseboat parked in Ycotti Cove when he stepped backward and off the boat. The man fell into a windshield of a ski boat and then fell into the water.
After a frantic search by friends in the dark, rescue crews arrived. Crews would eventually find the mans body and pronounced him dead at 2:40 a.m. Saturday morning.
The victims name has not yet been released. Investigators say the man had been drinking.
