UPDATE: Paradise District Manager Accepts Lower Salary

A move by the Paradise Irrigation District has many people in the small community on the ridge upset.  They say the district manager has written a proposal, giving himself a big raise, and they don't understand why.  Wednesday night at the regularly scheduled PID meeting in Paradise, about 35 people showed up.  Several wanted to voice their opinions over the proposed salary increase by District Manager George Barber.  Barber reportedly makes $135,000 per year, with $20,000 worth of benefits.  He proposal had requested a salary increase of more than $35,000 over the next year, with a $25,000 increase by March 1st, 2013.  At Wednesday night's meeting, according to the board, Barber accepted a salary of $138,200 with an annual COLA equal to social security effective January 2014.  Attached is his original proposal to the board.
