The pedestrian killed Monday night in Redding has been identified as 36-year-old Kelly McCoy of Redding. Investigators say McCoy was hit and killed while trying to cross East Street at Placer Street around 6:30 pm Monday during a heavy rainfall. Redding Police say McCoy was crossing East Street when she was hit by a Toyota 4-Runner driven by 45-year-old Barbara Meyers of Palo Cedro. McCoy was pronounced dead at the scene. East Street was closed for three hours. Police don't know if the McCoy was in the marked crosswalk.
The driver was questioned and released.
