SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — An energy lobbyist who was the subject of an investigation after a former GOP lawmaker was caught on tape bragging about having sex with her is denying the relationship and has been reinstated to her job.

An attorney for Heidi DeJong Barsuglia says that what former Assemblyman Mike Duvall called "'inappropriate storytelling' was just a plain old-fashioned lie."

The FBI announced Monday that it was ending its investigation into an alleged relationship between the Sempra Energy lobbyist and Duvall, as well as another affair Duvall bragged about. The Republican from Yorba Linda resigned last month.

The state attorney general, Fair Political Practices Commission and Assembly Ethics Committee also declined to investigate.

Sempra says Barsuglia is being taken off leave and fully reinstated.
