Recap: Oakland vs. Seattle
Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - Jesus Montero was one of five Mariners to go deep on Friday as Seattle topped the Oakland Athletics, 8-5, in the Cactus League opener for both teams.
Michael Saunders, Carlos Peguero, Luis Rodriguez and Johermyn Chavez all added solo home runs for the Mariners, who got 2 1/3 solid innings from starter Blake Beavan.
Beavan allowed just four hits and one run, while Sean Henn pitched a scoreless ninth to pick up the save for Seattle.
Eric Sogard ripped a solo homer and Jemile Weeks added an RBI double and a run scored. Manny Ramirez made his debut in an A's uniform, but went 0-for-2.
Graham Godfrey started for Oakland and was tagged with the loss after giving up a pair of runs in two innings.
