Report: Andruw Jones signs with Japanese team

(Sports Network) - Veteran outfielder Andruw Jones has reportedly signed a one-year contract to play in Japan.

CBSSports.com is reporting the story through Nikkan Sports that Jones has agreed to play for the Rakuten Golden Eagles with a deal that will pay him around $3.5 million.

The 35-year old batted just .197 with 14 home runs and 34 RBI in 94 games last season with the Yankees, his second year with the club.

A 10-time Gold Glove winner and five-time All-Star, Jones has played in the majors since coming into the league in 1996 with the Atlanta Braves.

While also playing for the Dodgers, Rangers and White Sox, he is a career. 254 hitter with 434 home runs and 1,289 RBI in 2,196 games.
